by Dot Eggleston, garden manager

The summer is flying by and we hope you are enjoying the warm weather. It may be time to redo your flowers for that late summer party. As you look around, either in the yard, porch or on the patio, keep in mind that we have fresh newly grown plants and flowers to brighten up your home. Combination planters, hanging baskets, annuals, and perennials can all make a great splash of color at your home or office. If you are planning a party, BBQ, reunion, or just a family get together don’t forget the flowers! Binley’s has beautiful plants and we can also decorate your table with fresh cut floral centerpieces. Stop in and talk to one of our talented floral designers. They will be able to help you with colors and style for your party.

August can also be vacation time for many people, so be sure to have a neighbor or a friend water your plants while you are away.

During the summer we are growing our hardy garden mums for the fall. The mum plugs (baby plants) come in to us in early June, we start them in trays until late June, then plant them into 9.5” pots to grow in the yard behind the store. Some of the mums will start to flower in mid August and as the month progresses more and more will be in flower.

By the way, just a reminder: mark your calendar for Saturday Sept 19th …our Fall Festival. Be sure to come and enjoy the fun. We’ll have all the details in our next newsletter.
